That's smooth that he let you guys go.
Having a car that looks stock has helped me out of a lot of jams with the po-lice. One time it even kept me from going to jail....kinda.....long story short - I'm showing off on the hwy, cop gets on hwy, I leave cop behind on hwy...melt a piston in the process. I leave hwy at next exit, car dies within view of exit ramp on side road, cop gets off hwy...gives up search for crazy driver (me)...and helps push poor innocent 4door gsr off the road (also me). The cop never thought it was me!! unbelievable. I was crapping my pants when he pulled up behind me. Then he just says "need some help?", I almost cried. This all happened at night, so I guess he never got a good enough look at my car. LOL.

I saved myself one night, by knowing where the police sub station was in the area.

I was at 90+ and saw a car coming up fast through a block of traffic behind me. I couldn't tell whether it was a cop, but it had the suspiciuous typcial sedan cop layout of headlights (which could be a few other cars, but is also telltale of cops in the area).

I didn't want to brake and make it obvious, and he was on me, while I was still going 70 and headed down the access road. At first he was up tight behind me, but as soon as I hit the access road, he backed off a lot but followed behind.

I turned right into the station, and he (fortunately) drifted on by.

I'm almost positive he'd of stopped me, if he hadn't doubted I might be another cop on the way into work. (my car then wasn't too modded though, which helped)

I have a feeling he might of been cussing at me anyway.

It was pretty funny. My brother and I traded cars and were out for a (99.999% legal) drive. So I was driving a 240SX/SR20DET (Factory turbo upped to 10psi) hybrid.

At an intersection where 2 lanes go to one, somebody was first in one lane. I was first in the other (disappearing lane). My brother was behind me in my 10psi JRSC GSR.

Light turns green and we go, not at 10/10ths, more like 7/10ths. I just wanted us both to get in front of the other car. No burning out. Turn signals used. No speeding. Not even a race.

Well... apparently an open BOV and my screamer accelerating at the same time caught Joe Law's attention. A mile up the road I see the lights coming from behind. The cop passes my brother (in my very stock looking, no stickers except the JR windshield banner) without a look and pulls ME over (in a menacing looking car with JDM taillights and driving lights and a long equipment list down both sides).

Anyway, yada yada yada, clean licenses, we're old, my brother stopped to even though he didn't have to and had the same story, cop threatens millions of tickets... We're let off with a warning and a final message of, "You're to old for this shit. Take it to the track."

It was only later that I remembered:

My Car's Plates: "ILL SMOQ"
My Bro's Plates: "JDMTURBO"
Small sticker on driver's rear side window: "QUESTION AUTHORITY"
My shirt: "still plays with cars"

We got a lot of laughs out of this. The cop must have been confused to. We're so different than our car's stereotype. My car still had baby seats in it!

Smooth.....very smooth pulling into the station. Man...I have never thought of that one.
Yeah cops headlights are pretty easy to spot...but what is even more obvious is how they drive. You'd think they would be a little less conspicuous when they come up behind you....ya know??

We didn't get away with anything except having loud cars! We weren't racing and didn't do anything wrong. That cop would have gone down at trial.

That's half the reason my brother stopped too. To tell the cop we weren't racing.
